The Swindon Blossom Festival returns for April 2026!
The South Swindon Blossom Festival is one of the biggest upcoming events in the parish. Running from 2–30 April, it’s a parish‑wide celebration of spring featuring a wide range of workshops, activities, and community events. Thanks to National Trust funding, South Swindon Parish Council is delivering the festival for the fourth consecutive year. The festival aims to engage residents with the nature and wildlife found throughout the parish, with activities taking place across several locations including GWR Park, Town Gardens, Badbury Park, Shaftesbury Lake, the Buckhurst and East Wichel Tiny Forests, Queens Park, and Broadgreen Community Centre.

Running from 2nd to 30th April, the South Swindon Blossom Festival is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. Throughout the month, you can take part in a range of engaging activities – from hands‑on workshops to guided walks along sections of the South Swindon Green Trail. It’s a brilliant way to celebrate spring, connect with nature, and explore some of the area’s most beautiful green spaces.
Badbury Park Spring Festival – Saturday 4th April – 10:00am-3pm
Celebrate Spring at Badbury Park! Join us on Saturday 4th April at Commonhead Park and the Community Hub for a fantastic day of live performances, a bouncy castle, craft market, food and drink, and fun activities for the whole family.
Whats Happening at Broadgreen?
Wednesday 8th April – Brighter Broadgreen Picnic – 1pm-3pm
Come join the Brighter Broadgreen Picnic! Bring your friends and family, your own food and get involved with a range of craft activities available form Artsite and Prime Theatre. Meet our Parish youth workers and local police cadets, and enjoy a free samosa – while they last!
And that’s not all! On Thursday 30th April, Broadgreen will also be holding a Volunteer Recruitment Day (3:30pm-6:30pm). Come along to find out all about all the outdoor volunteer opportunities within the parish. Take part in activities from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and meet local groups working to protect and enhance our parish’s green spaces!

Queens Park Spring Trail
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Queens Park Spring Trail, where blooming flowers and the hard work of our dedicated gardeners create the perfect backdrop for a day out. Follow the family-friendly story trail around the park, with fun prompts and activities to discover along the way. You can also take part in drop-in yoga workshops at 12pm on both days, and relax with refreshments available courtesy of Rural Bean. It’s a lovely way to welcome the season and enjoy some time outdoors with family and friends.
Town Gardens
Come along to Town Gardens this April for a series of activities and bandstand concerts! Enjoy a guided tour, try a new craft during our spring weekend (18th + 19th) and take in the beautiful flowers as they bloom!

Spring In Town Gardens Event

One of our flagship events, there’s a range of activities for the whole family, including 2 arts projects, a tree trail and bug workshops.
For our 2 arts projects, we have the Blossom Installation, where you have to create a collaborative installation piece that celebrates spring, each letter is brought to life using different techniques. And the Blossom Bunting, where you handpaint dye onto fabric that will become part of a larger display. Both finished pieces will be displayed at GWR Park on the 25th of April. We also have the tree trail for you to follow and bug workshops every hour.
Heritage Tour
Friday 24th from 6pm
Join a local historian for a 45-minute guided tour exploring the history of Town Gardens. Discover little-known stories and details that bring the park to life.

Blossom Festival at GWR
Join us for the Blossom Festival on Saturday 25th April 2026, 11am – 3pm. Enjoy a day of live performances, craft activities and family-friendly entertainment, while exploring the offerings of local makers and food vendors around the Blossom Circle. Bring your friends and family along to celebrate spring together in one of South Swindon’s beautiful green spaces.
Shaftesbury Lake Pond Dipping – Friday 10th April – 10am-2pm
Join us on Friday the 10th April to discover and learn all about the flora and fauna that live in and around Shaftesbury Lake! Using microscopes and expert knowledge, uncover the hidden wildlife of the lake, and enjoy a peaceful nature-filled afternoon – perfect for curious minds of all ages!
